DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Drawing with John Ribble\n\nSat-Sun\, April 4-5\, 2020 | 9am-4pm\, might finish early second day | Ages 16+\n\n590 Water St\, Prairie du Sac\, WI 53578\n\n \n\nJohn Ribble returns to take your drawing to the next level in Intermediate Drawing. Students in this class should have some drawing experience\, or have taken his previous class at River Arts\, Beginning Drawing.\n\nThis class will be an introduction to different media and surfaces used in the drawing process. This includes but is not limited to charcoal\, pen and ink\, watercolor\, and mixed media.\n\nTopics will include:\n\n-Drawing more complex forms\, learning to use contour\n\n-Designing an effective composition\n\n-Designing and drawing using light and shadow\n\nAll drawings in this class will be done from life\, not photography. John will bring in several visually interesting objects to set up unique still life settings.\n\nSupplies students should bring with them:\n\n-Drawing pad size 18" x 24" or larger.\n\n-Mi-teintes pad of paper\, any size\n\n-Watercolor paper (Strathmore\, Canson\, BLICK\, or Arches recommended brands)\n\n-Variety of several 2B and 4B charcoal pencils\n\n-Variety of erasers (be sure to include at least one rubber and one kneaded eraser)\n\n-Charcoal sticks (Vine is fine. Generals or Winsor & Newton recommended brands)\n\n-Ballpoint or rollerball pen\n\n-#8 or #10 water media brush\n\nAbout John:\n\nJohn Ribble has worked as a professional graphic designer and art director\, as well as a freelance illustrator\, for over 30 years. He was a full time faculty member in the Graphic Design & Illustration Program at Madison Area Technical College for 32 years.\n\nHe has been a plein air landscape artist for the past 25 years and is represented by the Abel Contemporary Gallery in Stoughton\, WI. John is married to artist Cynthia Quinn\, and together they have two very creative daughters and two naughty corgis.
