DESCRIPTION:Spring is in the air - Spring is everywhere especially at the Dorf Haus in Roxbury on Sunday\, April 2\, 2017 at 12:15 p.m.   4:00 p.m.\n\na delightful afternoon brought to you by the the August Derleth Society Presenting Derleth's Favorite Novel\, "Evening in Spring"\n\nEnjoy Augie's own love story summarized and narrated by: Donna Stehling to include Michele Hopp & Scott Kindschi alias Margery Estabrook & Steve Grendon. 12:15 - 1:00 cash bar\, coffee and some bakery\, register for door prizes\, and bid silent auction items. Winners will be announced at the end of this event. Enjoy famous "Hors d' oeuvres Buffet" and continued cash bar. "April in April" honoring Augie's daughter April Rose.\n\n\n\nAlso\, Jerry Apps will be at this event. He knew August Derleth\, he took one of Augie's fiction writing classes at the School of the Arts in Rhinelander in 1968. Derleth had reviewed Jerry's first book he wrote\, "The Land Still Lives"\, which was published in 1970 by Robert Gard's Wisconsin House. Gard and Derleth were good friends\, and Jerry was fortunate to have Bob Gard as his writing mentor.\n\n\n\nA month after Derleth's death\, in 1971\, Jerry began teaching creative writing at the School of the Arts in Rhinelander and taught there for 32 years. He still teaches creative writing\, now mostly at The Clearing in Door County\, where he taught for 27 years.\n\n\n\nVisit Jerry Apps website for list of books he had written and tune in his hour-long documentary with Wisconsin Public TV will air on March 8 at 7:00 p.m.
