SUMMARY:Joint Artist Talk: Rick Nass and Carrie Scherpelz
DESCRIPTION:Rick Nass is an illustrator who specializes in caricature and stylized figure drawings as well as product illustration. For most of his three-decade commercial career he used colored pencil and acrylic paint but due to industry changes\, his work has evolved to keep up with the digital era. For the past several years he has produced his work entirely in a digital format\, drawing with digital pencils\, paint\, and brushes to create pieces that still maintain the same look and feel of his traditional work.\n\n\n\nIf you've ever wanted to learn more about the commercial art world\, this is the time! Rick will also include a step by step progression of how he creates his work today!\n\n\n\n\nTen years ago\, Carrie Scherpelz got her start in Picasiette: the art of making mosaics from broken plates. If you break an heirloom no tears\, no trash to the landfill you can commission her to make a mosaic from your mishap and give the once beautiful item a second chance. Or simply donate your broken pieces and cast-off tiles to her collection of raw materials. For every sale\, $25 is donated to Dane County's Second Chance Housing Project for formerly homeless families.\n\n\n\nCarrie will bring samples from her personal collection and also share some of her stories and works in progress to demonstrate her technique. You can even bring in your broken pieces at this time and talk to Carrie one on one about its future possibilities!
