SUMMARY:The Gateway Unveiling – Where Connections Begin
DESCRIPTION:The Gateway Unveiling Where Connections Begin\n\nA First Look & First Crossing of the Wisconsin River Recreational Bridge\n\nJoin us as we celebrate a major milestone in the Wisconsin River Bridge and Gateway Park project! Be among the first to experience the new 500-foot recreational trail bridge connecting Sauk and Dane counties a landmark achievement that reflects years of collaboration\, partnership\, and a shared commitment to bringing this vision to life.\n Date: Thursday\, November 5\, 2026\n\n Time: 2:00 PM\n\n Location: 1200 Block of Water Street\, Sauk City\, WI 53583 (Future Gateway Park)\n\n \n\nWhat's Next? Winter\, Phase II & the Official Grand Opening in 2027\n\nThe completion of Phase I is such an exciting achievement! Thank you to all our project partners and community members who have contributed to its success. So\, what comes next?\n\nWinter! It won't be long before the snow starts falling and snowmobiles get fired up for the season. However\, our beautiful new bridge will not be open for snowmobile traffic during the 2026-2027 season. We appreciate your understanding and can't wait to welcome your sleds next year. We promise it will be worth the wait.\n\nPhase II also comes next: the completion of the 3-mile rail-to-trail conversion called the Walking Iron Trail will connect the new Wisconsin River bridge to an improved trailhead parking lot on State Highway 78 within the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway. When complete\, the conjoined projects will be open to hiking\, biking\, cross-country skiing\, and yes snowmobiling ready for all seasons of adventure in 2027-2028!\n\nOfficial Grand Opening & Dedication Ceremony - 2027: Finally\, a celebration to mark the grand opening and construction completion of these two connected projects will take place mid-summer\, 2027. Stay tuned for more information and make plans to join us! This has been a true community effort\, and we can't think of a better way to celebrate than with YOU.
