DESCRIPTION:Prairie du Sac\, Wis. Wollersheim Winery will celebrate the grand opening of its new distillery Aug. 14 and 15\, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.\n\n \n\nConstruction for Wollersheim Distillery\, which is located on the Wollersheim Winery property\, has been in the works since groundbreaking last August. This is not the first time spirits were made on the winery's property\; brandy-making took place as early as the 1870s\, paused around the turn of the century\, and resumed with the creation of Wollersheim Winery's popular Coquard Brandy in 2010.\n\n \n\nFor the grand opening\, Wollersheim Distillery will release the third batch of Coquard Brandy\, a grape brandy made with 100 percent Wisconsin-grown grapes and aged in Wisconsin-oak barrels. Other offerings will include an aged apple brandy\, a clear apple brandy (also known as eau de vie)\, and possible limited supplies of gin and absinthe.\n\n\n\nThe Wollersheim Distillery Grand Opening event is open to the public\, and will feature a self-guided tour\, tastings of Coquard Brandy and other distilled spirits\, and music on Saturday. Today\, the vineyards comprise 27 acres of French-American hybrid grapes.
