Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce Issues Call for Artists for Gateway Mural Project
Sauk City, WI — The Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce has announced a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking qualified artists and artist teams to design and install a bold, large-scale public mural that will serve as a welcoming gateway to the Sauk Prairie community.
The mural will be installed on the southwest-facing exterior wall of La Mexicana Mexican Restaurant, located at 834 Water Street in Sauk City, along a major travel corridor at the entrance to Sauk County. The site is visible to approximately 20,000 vehicles per day and welcomes more than 3 million visitors annually, offering a highly prominent and impactful location for public art.
The outdoor canvas measures approximately 30 feet high by 50 feet wide. The project has an anticipated budget of up to $17,500 and is expected to be completed by July 30, 2026.
Artists are encouraged to submit creative, expressive, and visually bold concepts that feel rooted in Sauk Prairie’s identity while offering a fresh, contemporary, and optimistic first impression of the community. Professional muralists, public artists, artist teams, and emerging artists with demonstrated large-scale or public art experience are eligible to apply.
